What are the roles and permissions in Shifty?
Understand what each Shifty role can access and manage.
Overview
Roles in Shifty determine what each user can access and manage in the platform. Each role is designed for a different level of responsibility, from employees who use the mobile app to complete day-to-day tasks, to admins and store owners who manage content, users, settings, and company-wide activity.
Assigning the correct role helps keep access organized, protects important settings, and ensures each user only has the permissions they need.
Role Permissions

Admins can:
- Create content
- Edit content
- Delete content
- View company-wide data
- Manage users across the platform
- Manage organization-wide settings
- Access and manage all locations in the organization
Store Owner
Store Owners have the same permissions as Admins, with one additional permission.
Store Owners can:
- Do everything an Admin can do
- Receive anonymous employee feedback submitted through the app
Anonymous employee feedback gives Store Owners insight into team culture, employee concerns, and overall morale.
How to Choose the Right Role
Use Employee for team members who only need to use the mobile app for schedules, training, tests, and content.
Use Location Manager for users who are responsible for managing one or more assigned locations, including users, announcements, training activity, and team progress.
Use Admin for users who need full access across the organization, including content management, settings, users, and company-wide data.
Use Store Owner for users who need Admin-level access and should also receive anonymous employee feedback.

Troubleshooting
If a user cannot access a feature they expect to see, check their assigned role. The user may not have the permissions required for that action.
If a Location Manager cannot access a specific location, confirm that the user has been added to that location. Location Managers can only manage locations they have been assigned to.
