How do I update my availability?

Set or update your availability so your schedule reflects when you can work.

Overview

Availability in Shifty allows users to indicate when they are able to work.

Users can also mark preferred working times using the Dream Shift feature, which highlights when they would ideally like to be scheduled.

Keeping availability up to date helps managers create accurate schedules and assign shifts appropriately.

How to Update My Availability

  1. Open the Shifty app or WebApp

  2. Tap my profile image in the top right corner

  3. Select Edit Availability

  4. If no availability is set, tap Add Availability

  5. Enter the days and times you are available

  6. (Optional) Mark the time as a Dream Shift if it is a preferred working time

  7. Repeat this process for each time block you available

Things to Know

  • You can add multiple availability time blocks in a single day

  • Dream Shifts indicate preferred working times, but do not guarantee scheduling

  • Availability should reflect when you are consistently able to work

  • Changes may not affect schedules that have already been published

  • Your manager may review or adjust availability based on scheduling needs

Troubleshooting: Why can’t I update my availability?

If you are unable to update your availability, it may be due to your organization’s settings.

  • Your manager may have disabled employee availability editing

  • When this setting is turned on, only managers can update availability

  • If you need to make a change, you should contact your manager

Example

If you are available from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM on the same day, you can add two separate availability blocks. You can also mark one of these as a Dream Shift if it represents your preferred working time.
